Ida Denny was the youngest child in a family of eight children: two sons, six daughters. Another daughter in the family died long before Ida's birth. In the 1800's on a farm, having mostly daughters may have been difficult. Of the eight, we know the most about Aunt Biddle (Bridget Melinda Denny), Rev. John N., Helen and Ida. Biddy is listed in one census with the occupation of school teacher and another has her as dressmaker. Rev, Denny was sent to Rome for seminary, the only young man from the county, and returned to work as a priest in Pennsylvania. Helen married Charles Kelly, first cousin of Charles Redd. Helen and Charles were married at St. John's in Coylesville, in Butler County, Pennsylvania. (I have a photo of this church and cemetery I will put here another day. I visited the church in May 2017 - beautiful!)
Ida and Charles Redd were also married at St. John's at a time when Rev. John Denny had been ordained and returned to Pennsylvania. He officiated at their wedding, 7 Feb. 1888.
For Rev. Denny, the wedding was one of the few official duties he completed as a priest. He fell victim to tuberculosis and 1 May 1889.
Helen and Charles Kelly had a daughter, Mary, before Helen died in 1898. I believe Charles and his daughter are in a photo in Hilda Schenk Carmichael's photo album, some of the many Pennsylvania natives to visit Las Cruces, NM.
Ida and Charles lost a son, but went on to have Mary, John, Ida and Arthur before Ida also died in 1898. As much as I wish I knew more about Ida, I have not been able to find more information.
Charles Redd's half sister, Annie, and his sister, (Mary) Jane, would live with him and apparently help with the family. More on that in their respective stories.
